Today’s post features Shelby, a mum whose philosophy is to take it one day at a time. Shelby faced many challenges in the first year of her son’s life, but she has come out the other side appreciative of the simple things in life, cloth nappies notwithstanding.

Do you know anyone that has used a diaper service? Do you know anyone that has used a diaper service? I almost went that route but decided to save a bit more money and wash at home.💚

The 1930s were a pivotal time in diapering history and history in general. The Great Depression and then World War 2 affected every aspect of life and that included diapering and motherhood. During World War 2, Diaper services became very popular and eventually NADS (National Association of Diaper Services) was established. Lets take a deeper look into the 1930s!

1930- Hand knit wool soakers started to become more mainstream. They were much cuter than the plastic pants and were just all the rage. Especially because the patterns were cheap, it made it easier to make the switch from plastic. Everyone was looking to save money during this time and the hand knit soakers did just that! During this time they were all hand knit and personally made by the mother or family members. I love how cute these vintage covers are! Towards the end of this century and the early 1940s stores started selling different patterns and “soaker kits”. Wool covers are still very popular today and I think this product will be sticking around for awhile! What do you all think?

1935- Diaper Services become very popular. With the increase of working mothers, diaper services became a lifesaver! These diaper services are still available in most of the United states as well as other countries!

And that is our brief diapering history of the 1930s! Stick around for more cloth history. I hope you enjoyed!
